The Kinds of Businesses That Join Business For Good
Running a purposeful local business is way harder than running one that is not. And even though the payoff is so worth it, it can be lonely and stressful if you’re on your own.
But what if you had a strong support network of values-aligned San Diego business owners you could rely on for business advice, camaraderie, and friendship? People who, like you, know that when our local communities thrive, so do our businesses’ bottom lines?
You’ll find all that (and more) at Business For Good. Our members do what’s best for their employees, community, and bottom line—all while forming real connections with each other and having a blast.
BFG members run businesses of all kinds across San Diego County. We’ve got folks in the South Bay, East County, and as far north as Escondido. Check out the kinds of businesses that join Business For Good. We bet you’ll see yourself right here at home with us.
Art + Design
All BFG members are creative, innovative folks. But some have got that special artistic flair that brings so much joy into the world. For stunning prints, we turn to Natalie Chiles Photography. And Diolinda Monteiro, owner of 5th Dot design studio, is our go-to graphics and designer guru (and board member).
Branding / Marketing / PR / Web
If you’re in the digital branding + marketing game, trust us when we say you’ve found your people here with us.
Our BFG member base is largely comprised of these incredible folks who believe in the power of meaningful storytelling, messaging, and digital strategy to drive change.
We are especially proud that three of these members are Certified B Corporations. They include BLVR, Diamond + Branch, and Visceral.
Co-Working Spaces
Even before the pandemic, many of our BFG members worked from home offices. Ivy Street Co-Working in South Park offers a chill, community-minded space for anyone who needs a productive break from their cohabitants, pets, or the. same. four. walls.
Events
When it’s safe for in-person events to resume, our members have got the gorgeous venues and expertise to help you craft the perfect shindig. Plan your next gathering with Joy Culture Events, or host it at The Point or Dickinson Farms.
Financial Services
Do traditional banks, lending practices, and wealth management firms make your stomach sink? Yeah, us too.
We are thrilled BFG has several members that are passionate about investing in small businesses and underserved local communities. They include Bair Financial Services, Blue Summit Wealth Management, CDC Loans, and Mission Driven Finance (also a B Corp!).
Food + Drink
The COVID-19 pandemic caused nearly 1 in 5 restaurants across the U.S. to permanently close. San Diego was no exception. We saw dozens of beloved neighborhood establishments shutter their doors.
Local restaurant and bar owners need more support and visibility now than ever before. Luckily, our BFG Board Chair, Mikey Knab, is a stalwart in the food and drink industry. In response to the pandemic, Mikey founded the High Road Kitchens Program to help build a new, more equitable, sustainable industry for all.
Our amazing food + drink BFG members include Fernside, FruitCraft, Kensington Cafe, Ponce’s Mexican Restaurant, Super Cocina, and more.
Human Resources / Payroll
Lots of our BFG members are solopreneurs or microbusinesses. That means that while they have the same payroll, HR, and compliance needs as larger businesses, they don’t have the resources to hire a full-time employee to oversee all of it.
Good thing our board member Christian Batista runs Total Package Professional Services, a full-service HR, Compliance, and Staffing firm that offers exceptional, easy-to-manage services. And if you need anything notarized, our BFG member Cal Notary Service has got you covered 24/7.
Law Firms
Contrary to popular belief, even lawyers can be good people. As in, really good people. BFG member Better APC helps purpose-driven businesses with business formation, contracts, and IP. They’re a part of 1% For The Planet and several other efforts that help create a better world for generations to come.
Life Law Partners, LLP helps values-driven business owners with risk management, compliance, governance, and estate planning. Austin Evans, one of Life Law’s partners, serves on our Board of Directors.
Real Estate
Real estate in San Diego, and much of the U.S., is on fire right now.
Amongst the bidding wars, skyrocketing property values, and the race to lock in the lowest interest rates, San Diego folks desperately need values-driven real estate agents that care about them—not just a commission.
We are grateful to have Dan Parker of EXP Realty as a BFG board member and trusted resource for all of our members.
Retail
We love San Diego for its diverse mix of local retail shops in every neighborhood, many of them independently owned and operated. They truly represent the heart and soul of our city.
We are honored to have local spots like A Touch of Clover Salon, Sash, and Verbatim Books as members.
Sustainable Business Solutions + Transportation
One of BFG’s areas of local policy focus is Environmental Health. It’s no surprise, then, that many of our members’ businesses directly address long-term solutions around sustainable business strategy, renewable energy, transit, waste and other options.
Our members in this arena include C&M Motors, GOGO Charters, Hammond Climate Solutions, and Hey Social Good. And, we’ve got three additional members who are B Corporation Certified, or certification pending: A STELLAR CO, ISOS Group, and Offset Alliance.
